Available in a host of finishes, the most typical are brushed satin #4, mirror polished, or non-directional. In environments high in salt air concentration, industrial pollutants, or acid rain, alloy type 316 is recommended to inhibit corrosion and pitting. Highly durable outdoor protective coatings are available and recommended. Ask your project manager for advice concerning finish and protective coating for your application.

Stainless steel is generally assumed to be unstainable. This is not necessarily true in certain exterior applications, where visible staining may occur as a result of rain, dirt, carbon leaching, diesel fumes, and other elements. To keep your stainless steel letters looking like new for an extended period of time, all exterior stainless steel applications receive passivation treatments. Discuss this important treatment with your project manager. 

Fabricated dimensional materials include aluminum, anodized aluminum, stainless steel, copper, bronze, brass, yellow brass and titanium.
